Sustainable Paremoremo Community Meeting
Rubbish Free
DID YOU KNOW? There are now estimated to be 46,000 pieces of plastic in every square kilometre of every ocean in the world, and in the past 25 years in NZ, we’ve increased what we throw away by 73%. If we put our waste onto a rugby field we’d have a pile 30 stories high – every month!During 2008 Christchurch couple Waveney Warth & Matthew Luxon, decided to try and avoid contributing to this growing problem by setting themselves a challenge of living for a year without sending anything to landfill.
The average Kiwi couple sends 1.5 tons of rubbish to landfill every year – they sent 2kg!
Come along and find out how they did it and what you can do to make a difference.
