” On the third Saturday of each month Albany Village Square buzzes with the local Village Market. Beautiful arts & crafts,Jewellery, crystals, gourmet foods, artisan breads alongside Healers, Therapists, Naturopaths, Clairvoyants and Artists. Amidst the park setting with it’s Flying Fox and Ducks – it’s a great family day out. Plenty of parking is opened up behind the library.”
The Albany Village Market is organised by local businesswoman Annie Vanderburgh. Annie runs her Whispered Secrets Yoga and Healing Centre behind the building which houses Helen’s Kitchen (the best coffee and homemade pies in the Village.) Parking is at the end of Kell Park lane, beside Adrien Jennings’ art gallery. At Whispered Secrets Annie offers Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation classes, Reiki stress reduction, Crystal Energy Healing and Tarot readings.
Wanting to further help our village community, she took over the running of the Village Markets which formerly were organised in the square by the Albany Village Charitable Arts Trust (AVCAT). She is backed also by the Albany Village Business Assn and Massey University who allow her free use of their rooms on the square and all the student parking areas behind.
The markets include stalls with fresh farmers’ market produce, jams and preserves, sweets, nuts, beauty products, jewellery, art and sculpture as well as many Healers and Massage specialists, a children’s face painter, a Henna hand-painter and live music.
